　　Environmental pollution has become a thorny issue for the past few decades and it is, as more people has realized, more and more pressing. Some hold the opinion that a worldwide decline in living standard, out of each citizen’s own will, would be the answer to this problem. However, I do believe this sort of conservation is sensible but infeasible due to its ignorance about important factors.

　　At first glance, this proposal has its ground to stand. It would, theoretically, result in the reduction of emission and waste produced if city dwellers could adopt a kind of less comfortable lifestyle out of which consume less food especially meat, utilize more public transport and purchase less goods and no luxuries, which is strongly desired by conservationists as consumerism has been accelerating the process to outcast personal belongings and produce trash. In addition, those in developed nations should really consider leading such way of life as statistics shows that the population in the U.S., taking only 6% of that in the world, consumes more than one third of global resources, emitting more carbon and exporting rubbish accordingly.

　　On the downside, this standpoint is hard to comply and therefore rather ignorant. Focusing on individual’s needs, it is human nature to fulfill the desire for better living conditions and very few could resist to satisfy that lure when possible.This fascination, in a larger sense, attracts this species to strive and undertake, a basic guarantee for healthy economies. Hence, the degradation of life standard is mostly likely understood widely but not carried out inordinary lives.
